"Be Still" was created during March 2020 - June 2020. It was created as a response to losing my job as a florist due to COVID-19. I was thinking a lot about the event industry, the floral farmers and the many small business's directly effected by the pandemic. I was filled with stress, fear, sadness, and anger but found a little calm and peace with the dead dried flowers in my studio so I decided to make something inspired by them. For me, this piece became about taking a moment to be still in order to recharge. In a period where it feels like there is no time to spare.

Maggie Freed is a Los Angeles County based artist, she graduated from California State University Long Beach with her BFA in Drawing and Painting. Her work has always been strongly influenced by color theory, pattern, and light. Currently her work is focused on the passing of time.
