This piece was made around the time of the movements responding to the murder of George Floyd. The piece in itself isn't about George Floyd and this painting is not a way to profit from his death. It is meant as a vehicle to confront the views here in the states that people of color are second class citizens. What this piece is saying is that people of color, LGBTQ+ groups, Native Americans, disabled groups, and white allies are a major part of this country and that we've made a mark; a mark not to be taken for granted.
We are not blemishes in the history of this country, we are a major part of it.
